Healthy Hot Meals
The Issue
Amrita-Seattle’s mission is rooted in the unwavering belief that every youth deserves dignity, safety, and the opportunity to thrive, and a life off the streets.
As of 2024, King County faces a significant homelessness crisis, with an estimated 16,868 individuals experiencing homelessness on any given night—a 26% increase from 2022. Statewide, Washington reports 31,554 people experiencing homelessness, marking a 12.5% rise from the previous year (KCRHA.ORG). Youth and young adults are disproportionately affected, often facing compounded challenges such as trauma, mental health issues, and systemic inequities.

Our Approach
Through partnerships with reputed local organizations like Teen Feed, ROOTS Shelter, Sophia Way Amrita-Seattle delivers more than just meals. The meal program(s) serves as a vital entry point to a comprehensive support system for homeless and at-risk youth aged 13 to 25.
Our Hot Meal Program offers consistent, nutritious food and creates a safe, welcoming environment where youth can find respite and connection. Our Meal Program is intentionally designed to be as accessible as possible, with no ID required and transportation costs covered.
We provide a welcoming environment with minimal barriers, making it one of the most accessible youth crisis programs in Seattle. Beyond meals, we provide essential resources—clothing, hygiene products, transportation assistance—and facilitate access to shelter and healthcare services. Our holistic approach recognizes that addressing basic needs is the first step toward healing and self-sufficiency.
By consistently delivering meals to underserved populations, the Grab n' Go Meal Program and the Healthy Hot Meal Program addresses immediate food insecurity while also building trust within the community. This trust is crucial for connecting individuals to additional resources and support services aimed at promoting long-term stability and well-being.
