About
Tsering Yangchan comes from a background where her mother was abused by her alcoholic husband for an extended period of time. As of last five years, the husband has walked out of the family with a new partner. The mother joined a local cultural dance troupe in Leh city to perform at hotels for tourists during the summer time. Her earnings support the rent and grocery, but it is expensive for her to pay for the school fees. As of last two years, Yangchan’s grandmother fell severely ill, and the mother had to quit her job in Leh, to take care of her ailing parents. She lives on subsistence farming to sustain her household, and runs a garment shop. Tsering Yangchan lives at Amrita-Seattle's Home of the Snow Lions- A Children's Residential Home.
