About the event

Hot Meals. Connection. A Path Forward.

Every month, Amrita-Seattle prepares and serves nutritious hot meals for young people experiencing homelessness and housing instability across Seattle, working alongside community partners including Teen Feed, ROOTS Young Adult Shelter, and Tent City communities.

A hot meal meets an immediate need—but it can also be a point of connection. Through our community partners, young people can access shelter, basic necessities, case management, and other resources that help them move toward greater stability.

Amrita-Seattle volunteers come together to prepare and serve each meal with one simple goal: to ensure young people in our community are met with nourishment, dignity, and care.

What we'll do

A team of about ten cooks and serves a full dinner for 140–175 young people from TeenFeed and ROOTS Shelter, then cleans up together. You'll be paired with an experienced volunteer if it's your first time — no cooking experience needed.

What to bring and wear

Closed-toe shoes, hair tied back, and clothes that can get a little messy. Aprons and gloves are provided. Leave valuables at home; there's no secure storage.

Gift a Hot Meal

You can help put a warm, nutritious meal on the table. Sponsor an Amrita-Seattle hot meal and help us continue serving young people and families experiencing homelessness in our community.
