LEARN MORE...

Each month, Amrita-Seattle prepares and serves nutritious hot meals to homeless teens and youth in Seattle through partnerships with U-District Teen Feed, ROOTS Shelter, and University Street Ministry.

The Hot Meal Program provides more than just food; it offers youth a safe space for respite, emotional support, and connection. Over a shared meal, trained advocates and support coordinators help link youth to the resources and services they need to move toward stability.

During meal service, guests benefit from a supportive "family" of Teen Feed and ROOTS Shelter staff and volunteers. This caring community serves as a consistent resource hub, sounding board, and space for socialization. The program also offers essential services, including referrals to shelter, warm clothing, bus tickets, and other basic needs items. Our Meal Program is intentionally designed to be as accessible as possible, with no ID required and transportation costs covered. We provide a welcoming environment with minimal barriers, making it one of the most accessible youth crisis programs in Seattle.

Meal Team Volunteers do more than cook, serve, and clean up; they also advocate for homeless youth by offering a safe and supportive presence.

We invite anyone age 8 and up to join our meal team. Our food team follows specific nutritional guidelines to ensure the meals are both healthy and satisfying. Volunteer commitments typically range from once to twice a month.

Your support is invaluable to us. We welcome donations to sponsor a meal, and we are always collecting warm clothing and backpacks to distribute at the shelter. Thank you for helping us make a difference!
