Health & Wellness
The Issue
Amrita-Seattle's Health n’ Wellness Program supports unsheltered, homeless and at-risk young people living in Share/Wheel Tent City, TeenFeed, ROOTS, and Sophia Way shelters with essential supplies that nurture both body and spirit. Every day, individuals experiencing homelessness face harsh weather, food insecurity, and limited access to health n' hygiene resources. Through this program, we deliver Bags of Warmth and wellness designed to offer comfort, hygiene, and hope.

What We Provide

Why This Program Matters
It's more than just survival
Many young people experiencing homelessness avoid shelters because of overcrowding, safety concerns, or restrictive rules. This means they spend nights outside with little protection from the elements. Basic items like insulated sleeping bags, rainproof jackets, gloves, and thermal blankets can make the difference between staying safe and facing life-threatening exposure.
Our Winter Outdoor Survival Gear Program directly addresses this urgent need by providing:
-
Warmth and protection – Essential gear to endure cold and wet conditions.
-
Health and safety – Reducing the risks of illness, hypothermia, and exhaustion.
-
Dignity and resilience – Ensuring young people can survive the season with strength and hope.
More Than Survival
By equipping youth with the gear they need, we not only help them weather the winter—we also relieve some of the constant stress of living unsheltered. With their most urgent physical needs met, young people have more energy to focus on the bigger steps toward stability, healing, and a brighter future.
At Amrita-Seattle, we believe that every young person deserves safety, warmth, and dignity—no matter their housing situation.
